How to Dress like a Parisian | According to The Haute Lifestyle

Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr

Fashion Week Season” is in the air and most of what we’ve been seeing thus far is inspired by Euro Fashion more specifically Paris. The Fashion capital of the world is always ahead of the trends and has a certain sophistication and effortless chic that the rest of the world try to emulate.

We here at The Haute Lifestyle have been doing our best to keep up with “French Fashion” and found tips and trick on how you can dress like a Parisian by adding your own personality and of course for a lot less.

medianet_width = “300”;
medianet_height = “250”;

var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);

})();

Skip the Beret

Sure, there is the cliche’ association with a Beret and French culture which dates back to centuries ago but this is actually the farthest thing away from dressing like a Parisian. Unless you are a mime, the Beret is definitely not a necessity.

Easy Does it

Contrary to popular believe where it is often perceived that Parisians go overboard when it comes to Fashion–take it from us when we say “less is more”. Most Parisians will opt to keep it simple and go for cool and modern. What’s cool and modern? Think of a comfy pair of jeans with an edgy pair of ankle boots and a statement item like a handbag or coat/jacket.

Cashmere Sweater, Great Jacket or a Good Blouse

In today’s Fashionova and Pretty Little Thing world, items like the ones named above are something of a distant memory. When was the last time you heard anyone say “Oh, I need a cashmere sweater or a good blouse in my wardrobe? We’ll wait – A great cashmere sweater can make an everyday outfit look chic and more expensive than it is. We’ve also found that Parisians love a well-constructed leather Jacket and will wear it over a dress to create that ultra cool look.

Swap out your Black Dress

Parisian Fashion is all about embracing the delicate features of a woman which is often expressed through fabric choices like lace! In this case, you are swapping out your mundane Black Dress for a chic little lace dress. Lace is very important right now because you can dress it up with a nice pair of heels or dress it down with flats or sneakers.

Minimal Make-up

One of the top things we noticed about Parisians is how little makeup they wear! The face has a more natural look, eyebrows are either thinly shaped or slightly bushy and they finish that off with a red lip. This look fits into the “no-make-up make-up look” that became popular 2 years ago in the mainstream beauty industry. Instead of the “beat face,” we are used to, opt for a fresh natural look.
