Balmain presented their Spring/ Summer 2019 Womenswear collection at Paris Fashion Week and there are a few words to describe it — Futuristic, Streetstyle and Chic.

The young designer Olivier Rousteing has been having a few misses with his designs recently but he redeemed himself with this collection. Opening the show was Cara Delevingne with a powerful walk as she wowed the audience with her “comeback” and other noted models include “Kaia Gerber“, popular Australian born model “Duckie Thot” and our very own Tami Williams.
The pieces look like what Zenon Girl of the 21st century would wear in 2030– it was an interesting mix of chic, structured yet the de-constructed street style and metallics which also infused the big power shoulders. Olivier expressed that:
I love the obelisk of the Place de la Concorde, I love the pyramid at the Louvre. I travel from Paris to Egypt, in a way,” he said. “What is French has origin and history and what we call Parisian comes from somewhere else.” It created a colonial backbone to the collection, which served some looks – as they say – in sculpturally draped and twisted plissé over voluminous forms”
This collection is very different from previous collections and is more “young and hip” to the times and not as sexy and close fitted as previous years.
