The 6 Biggest Fall 2020 Fashions Trends From New York Fashion Week

We know we are several days late and a dollar short with NYFW trends, but we are here! We’ve recently published a few of our favorite Designer Presentations from the shows, so you can go ahead and check those out!

It is said the best Fashion is seen not on the Runway, but on the streets as interpreted by real people! These trends are a nice mix of pieces seen on the Runway that a lot of designers had in common and how they are worn by real people!

If you love all things high-fashion with a bit of street style and budget-friendly, keep reading to see the latest trends at NYFW.

COMBAT BOOTS

Yes! Combat boots are back and this time they are chunkier and chic-er than ever! These boots can be dressed up or down and are available at various price points. So far, I’m seeing where Influencers and Fashionistas are loving boots by Tamara Mellon, a British Entrepreneur (shout out to you sis) as she found a way to make them look chic and tough at the same time.

If you are not at the Tamara Mellon budget just yet, there are also great options from brands like Payless! I copped a pair in December and I’m glad I will be getting more wear out of them!

Fast-Fashion is literally so last year! There is no need to retire your outfits from last year as we are working towards preserving what we already own! At NYFW, this year, the emphasis was placed on sustainable fashion as a viable option to fast-fashion which contributes to a whopping 70% of the world’s waste. Lifestyle brands like “Planet Fashion TV” hosted their  Sustainable NYFW events that were a breath of fresh air and was well-received.

A few of these “trends” involve, Building a Capsule Wardrobe, Investing in quality pieces, upcycling, re-wearing, and rentals + more. Be on the lookout for our upcoming series on Sustainable Fashion which will be fun, informational and inspirational.

THE BIG BELT

Belts never seem to go out of style, it’s just a matter of size, color, shape, and texture! This year, the Big belt is back and it can easily be the star of your entire outfit.

We’ve seen brands like Rachel Comey, Dior and even Zara sharing their versions of the trend. With this trend, you can take a plain boring outfit and turn it into something that is more chic, modern and fitted. If you are one of those girls who might not have the most defined waist, this trend will be perfect to create the illusion of one.

COCOA BROWN

I am just as shocked as you are and for good reason! This specific shade is brown is often referred to as “doo doo” brown and I’m glad they made it Fashionable. This I believe is a nice alternative to black as it’s dark enough but has a really nice chill vibe to it.

If you love neutrals, you should definitely consider adding this to your wardrobe (capsule wardrobe that is)

Brands like Tom Ford and Bevza adding this to their collections and showed how versatile this color is.

LEATHER AS A CLASSIC

Leather is one of those staple fabric/material that cannot and will never go out of style! Gone are the days when we think of leather as hot, heavy and just for Halloween. Brands like Coach, Claudia Li, and Self Portrait just to name a few had Leather in their collections.

In these shows, leather was layered with other pieces to make it more wearable and in a variety of colors from Lilac to an Electric Pink to give it more “daytime wearable options”.

Since we are on a budget-friendly campaign and inclusion for all, there are other brands offering that trend for less than the amount of the above. Here, you get to pick your favorite price points and have fun dressing up.

COLOR EVERYWHERE

This season at NYFW, Colour was the stand-out trend at the shows. We saw hues of pinks,  greens, reds, and oranges. These are colors that are not usually seen during this time of year so it was quite interesting.

During Fall/Winter, we usually see darker shades of blacks, browns and even maroons that mimic the season.

Brands like Wes Gordon’s vibrant show for Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, and Sally LaPointe all had colors in their shows and made a statement with monochromatic looks.

Fashion is fun and people should have fun expressing themselves through this medium!
