The company based in Trinidad and Tobago was last Saturday launched at EC Makeup Bar inside Lee’s Fifth Avenue. The all natural & organic skin and hair care brand features Body Butters, Facial Cleansers & Toner, Tumeric Scrubs and Facial Oil. The usually busy makeup bar was transformed into a “beauty junkie” paradise with hues of yellows, purples, and blues and even a feather boa to compliment the perfect photo-op. The Haute Lifestyle was on location and was able to chat with the founder of the brand Dr. Caroline Singh just to learn more.

INTERVIEW

THL: When was Buttered Up Organics created?
Dr. Singh: In April of 2015

THL: Buttered-Up is quite an interesting name, Is there a story behind the name?
Dr. Singh: Yes, it’s quite a funny story, one of the first product was actually a body butter. We were trying to find a name for the line and my husband had recently gotten a tattoo done. His skin was getting so dry and one day he said:

bring some of that butter and butter me up

So “Buttered-up”, that’s gonna be the name of my line! It was appropriate because it was one of the first products that were launched in the line.

Dr. Caroline Singh

THL: Tell us about yourself and how you got started in the Beauty Industry:
Dr. Singh: I’m a Dentist by profession, I graduated in 2003 and one of the inspirations for the brand was that in Trinidad there was a lack of natural products that were available. Also being a medical professional, I’m looking at patients medical history all the time, I see that a lot of young patients were coming in with Cancer, Hypertension and a lot of skin problems. I wondered what caused these issues and I started to question if people were eating properly and if they were more aware of using natural products as well, these issues would not be as common. A lot of people question how and why cancer is so prevalent and we link it to what we eat but it could also be what you put on your skin. One of the missions of the brand is to find a safer alternative to skincare because there was a lack of that. I was always interested in taking care of myself and taking care of my skin. I also believe that if you want to have a good canvas for makeup it’s important to take care of the skin from within and not use makeup to hide imperfections

THL: What would you say is the “best seller” of all the products you offer:
Dr. Singh: Tumeric scrub that we first made, it was the product that grew the brand and it is still today the best selling product. I wanted to do another scrub and in September of this year, we launched 3 tumeric scrubs we call them triplets and also the magic scrub triplets. When some people review the brand they say its magical– turmeric is a spice and people were saying it’s magical so when I put it together – we have a hashtag called #magicspice.

THL: What are three (3) beauty items you can’t live without?
Dr. Singh: Facial Cleanser, Facial oil, and a facial scrub.

I was also treated to a few goodies from the brand and will be sharing my review here so be sure to check back soon for that. To learn more about the brand and purchase the products visit:
