Balmain Spring 2021 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Fashion Month continues with Paris Fashion Week!

Haute People will be doing our best to bring you the collections from some of our favorite designers!  The buzz word for Fashion Month this year is Phygital! There are fewer in-person shows and the Designers who’ve chosen this route have narrowed down their list to invite only a select few!

Today, we’ll be looking at the Balmain as it featured beautiful bold pieces and it was of course, Inclusive! There was a lot of color on the runway and we are not only talking about the clothing.

Let’s just start by saying “It was all about the details”! The stand-out looks were exaggerated, structured shoulders dawlins! Think Lady Gaga in “Born this Way” and you’ll catch the vibe!

There were electrifying pops of Neon Greens, Pinks all complete with the signature “Balmain Buttons” and it was all about monochrome. One would think since the pieces are so bold they would be toned down with more muted pieces but they all paired together. The colors told a story and went from the Neons to various shades of gray which took us on a journey. There was also a play on the fluidity of clothing as we saw models (male & female) styled in suited looks which played homage to the Diane Keaton 1977 Trend in “Annie Hall”  trend which is fitting to today’s society. The lines were blurred, but it was done in a subtle fun way.

Olivier Rousteing Balmain

About the Spring 2021 Collection by Olivier Rousteing

Perhaps most interestingly of all, after a show that pushed the envelope of digital show transmission more than any other I’ve seen this season so far, Rousteing said: “I think the future is all about physical, about real emotions. We cannot just say that digital is the key. We need to get together…tonight it was really inspiring to see the people in the audience. They were clapping and I think they were less with their phones…. We do need the screens and we do need digital to stay connected, but I do not believe that digital is the key to creating emotions.” The last call done, Olivier said he was going home to watch Netflix, eat Five Guys, and chill. However you saw it, this was a great blast of a Balmain show, but IRL it must have been awesome.
