How to Gain Confidence as a Blogger

It’s been eight (8) years since I’ve been a Blogger and I must say It’s been truly amazing! I know it sounds cliche’ but I can’t lie because it truly has been. Sure there have been ups and downs, several setbacks, heartbreaks when things don’t go right, and of course tears.

Haute People started out as a simple passion, just something to do between finding a great job and navigating my way around adulthood, but somehow it grew into a Lifestyle Brand that is not yet at its peak. All the experiences I’ve had and lessons I’ve learned came from putting myself out there and it took a lot of confidence.  Today, I will be sharing a few of my personal tips on How to Gain Confidence as a Blogger.

How to Gain Confidence as a Blogger

Before I get into it, I want you to ask yourself this very important question:

Is Blogging something I really want to do?

With anything in life it has to make sense and truly feel right to you or it will become a chore and will become taxing and before even getting started, you will fail. Now that we’ve addressed the Elephant in the room, let’s get into those tips.

Be yourself

In the words of Dr. Seuss: Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is youer than you. Let’s just say people can detect B.S and know when a person is being fake. I understand that everyone is different and things come as we grow and mature and have had experience in things that help to shape and mold us. If you are a nice, low-key, non-dramatic person, that is just who you are and that is what should be reflected in your Blog.  There are millions of Bloggers and new ones emerge every day; the ones who truly stand out are the ones who are not afraid to be themselves.

Know your Audience

Knowing who you are writing for can be a huge confidence booster. This can be done by linking your Blog to Google Analytics or the paid version of Moon Insights. These sites tell you what your readers are interested in, where they are from, their age, gender, and even their search queries. I’ve heard people complain that they never know what to write about or who will read their Blog, but you should do research to know what people want.  If you are not that tech-savvy, a good alternative is a good ole survey; this can be created on Facebook and Instagram or by searching google to find more survey options.

What is your Value Proposition

Here’s a term you might not have heard before, so let me explain!

value proposition refers to the value a company promises to deliver to customers should they choose to buy their product or service.

What is that one thing you are good at that will make you stand out from all the other Bloggers?  Here at Haute People, our Value Proposition is Efficient and Professional Delivery on all jobs. When I do Interviews or Sponsored posts the turnaround time is three days, (sometimes even a day to be safe) I usually submit a draft so the brand can see the angle I’m writing from then approve or tell me if it needs to be edited. Once approved, this is followed by the “next steps” which Involves: Letting them know the date the article will be published, An Invoice for payment, then a Receipt, and a Thank You, Note. By doing this, people realize this is an actual business and they can take us seriously and they will come back again and tell others about the service. I’ve done this for years and this is what keeps people coming back. They always commend us and say “how professional we are” and how “smooth and easy it was to work with us”.

Blog with Love

Is it true what they say, The race is not for the swift but for those who can endure. Blogging is more of a jog than a sprint and If you decide to go into it, It must be because you love it. Do you love writing? Are you great at taking photos? Are you good at meeting deadlines? If you’ve answered “yes” to all these questions, welcome to the wonderful world of Blogging. If not, it’s time to put in some research and maybe re-think things a bit. The first few months of Blogging is all about you finding your way around the platform and getting content out there and you will not be making millions of dollars. Is that a reality you can live with? It takes time as all good things do but it is well worth it in the end.

Put Yourself Out Ther More

Well duh! If you want to gain confidence in any area you have to really put yourself out there and dive into it. When I just started Blogging, I would collect business cards for as many people I could meet at events, then keep up with them and show genuine interest so I could get invited to more events. Back in the day in my late teens and 20’s I enjoyed the night scene but after a long day at work the last thing I want to do is stand around in heels and “put myself out there”  but I did it anyway. I love the comfort in coming home and staying in bed watching Lifetime, but what good is that gonna get me? Start putting yourself out there! If you see an amazing Brand on Social Media, reach out… the worst they could say is NO, and that still should not stop you.

I know this was a lengthy post, but when I share Tips for Blogging, I like to keep things real so I can add value to your lives. If you love this type of content, share it with a friend and bookmark it so you can always have it in your browser.
