Anyone following the red carpet goings-on – and, let’s be honest, don’t we all? – will agree that Zendaya has been its reigning monarch. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that she will be crowned the 2021 Fashion Icon at the CFDA Fashion Awards on November 10th for her global impact on fashion.
Without exception, the Euphoria and Dune star makes a style statement as soon as she steps out of her car. Take, for example, the all-white Rick Owens stunner she wore to the Dune premiere in London last night. or her plunging purple Versace dress at the 2021 BET Awards which paid homage to a 2003 Beyoncé look. Then there was the audacious gold-plated fresh-off-the-runway Loewe dress for the Women in Film Awards, and Tom Ford’s purple metal breastplate at the 2020 Critics Choice Awards.

She has been a supporter of both emerging designers and established fashion houses – from 2021 Womenswear of the Year nominee Peter Do to Carolina Herrera.
Consider her collaboration with über-image architect Law Roach the fashion gift that keeps on giving.
But it’s not just the red carpet that has marked Zendaya’s meteoric rise in our industry. In 2013, Zendaya launched the Daya by Zendaya clothing line, early on pioneering gender-fluid designs and a more inclusive size range. She also notably collaborated with CFDA board member Tommy Hilfiger on the Tommy x Zendaya collection, inspired by strong, iconic women and presented in Paris first and then at the historic Apollo Theater in New York. Today, she is a spokesperson for Lancôme, Bulgari, and Valentino.
Zendaya – who is joining a list of Fashion Icon recipients from Beyonce Knowles to Naomi Campbell, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez – is the youngest recipient of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Euphoria, and in addition to Dune, she is set to rejoin filmmaker Jon Watts for a leading role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters in December 2021.
