Some evenings remind you just how powerful community can be. Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause was exactly that kind of night; a gathering where lifestyle, culture, and philanthropy came together beautifully.
Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause
I had the pleasure of attending the Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause hosted in support of the initiatives led by the Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica. Set in a charming garden, the atmosphere felt instantly inviting, with soft lights, a DJ playing in the background, and guests mingling over glasses of sparkling cava.
Events like Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause are a reminder that giving back does not always have to be formal or restrained. Sometimes, it happens through conversation, shared experiences, and thoughtfully curated moments.
From the very beginning, the evening set the tone with welcome pours of Chic Barcelona Cava Brut and Chic Barcelona Cava Rosé, both crisp and refreshing introductions to what would become a beautifully curated culinary journey.
The first tasting experience came from TRIO, where Tuscan Salmon Bites paired elegantly with Château de Berne Grande Cuvée Rosé, while Chimichurri Grilled Shrimp Skewers were complemented by Château de Berne La Grande Cuvée Rouge. Each pairing highlighted how carefully the menu had been designed to enhance both the food and the wine.
As the night unfolded, guests explored a variety of stations from some of Jamaica’s beloved culinary destinations. Fromage Brasserie offered indulgent bites like Meatballs De La Casa Ricotta Romanesco and Lobster Bruschetta with whipped avocado feta, paired with Portuguese wines from Quinta De Plansel.
One of my personal favourites came from One Park, where Bone Marrow Terrine and Braised Oxtail were paired with bold pours like Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon and Roscata Rosso Dolce by Cavit, rich flavours that truly reflected the depth of the evening’s experience.
Across the garden, guests could sample Mediterranean-inspired offerings from Mezza Luna, including Chicken Shawarma and Scotch Bonnet Hummus, paired with Unshackled Chardonnay.
Meanwhile, Steakhouse on the Verandah delivered hearty bites with steak and creamy mushroom sauce served on breadfruit tostones alongside Daou Cabernet Sauvignon, while seared Ahi tuna paired effortlessly with Daou Sauvignon Blanc.
The sweet finale came courtesy of Likkle More Artisan Chocolate, whose salted caramel bon bon, pink peppercorn chocolate, and lemon basil ganache were paired with elegant pours from The Glenlivet and Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.
Of course, no Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause would be complete without a dedicated whisky experience. The Cigar & Whisky Lounge by Select Brands offered guests the opportunity to explore expressions like The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Single Malt Jamaica Edition, and The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve, creating a sophisticated close to an already unforgettable evening.
Beyond the exceptional food and drinks, what truly made Wine & Whisky Soirée for a Cause special was the sense of purpose behind it. The evening supported initiatives led by the Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica, an organization committed to community development and meaningful local impact.
It was a privilege to witness such a vibrant gathering of individuals, partners, and brands all united in support of a shared cause.
