Chronixx’s Triumphant Return to the Stage

As Day Two of Lost in Time approached, only one name echoed in my mind: Chronixx.

Chronixx’s Triumphant Return to the Stage

It had been a long Sunday, equal parts productive and demanding. At least twice, I considered staying home. A quiet evening sounded tempting. But the possibility that this could be his first or last performance in Kingston for a while? That thought alone made the decision for me.

And I am so glad it did!

In true Lost in Time fashion, precision reigned. At exactly 8:28 p.m., Chronixx’s Triumphant Return to the Stage began. He emerged in deep navy tones dressed in a tailored blazer layered over denim in a similar shade. Polished. Intentional. Effortless.

For a few seconds, he simply stood there.

No theatrics. No rushed entrance. Just presence.

He looked reflective, almost overwhelmed, and absorbing the moment before delivering it. The silence was thunderous. The crowd erupted before he even sang a note. That kind of reaction doesn’t happen by accident; it belongs to artists who mean something.

Then the lights shifted.

“Eternal Fire” opened the set, flames rising on both sides of the stage in perfect synchronicity. It wasn’t just production; it was symbolism. A reminder that some artists don’t fade; they evolve.

When “Here Comes Trouble” followed, the energy transformed into a choir. Thousands of voices, word for word, united in rhythm. It felt less like a performance and more like a collective affirmation. Then came the unexpected: technical sound interruptions.

For a brief moment, the music stopped.

But what happened next may have defined Chronixx’s Triumphant Return to the Stage more than any flawless note could. Instead of frustration, the crowd leaned in. Fans sang lyrics from across his catalogue; unprompted, unified, unwavering. It was loyalty in real time.

When the sound returned minutes later, the momentum didn’t need to be rebuilt.

Protoje joined him on stage, and suddenly the atmosphere felt renewed, almost as if Lost in Time had reset itself for a second climax. The synergy between the two artists was seamless, reinforcing why this festival feels so intentional.

Sunday’s lineup had already set the tone with compelling performances from Jesse Royal, Jah 9, Naomi Cowan, Dyani, Royal Blu, and Dahvid Slur — each adding dimension to the evening’s narrative. But closing Night Two required gravity.

Chronixx, born Jamar McNaughton, delivered exactly that.

By the time the final notes echoed through Hope Gardens, one thing was clear: Chronixx’s Triumphant Return to the Stage was not simply a headline slot. It was a reclamation. A reminder. A moment Kingston won’t soon forget.

And for those of us who almost stayed home?

Missing it would have been unthinkable.
