The Importance of Taking Social Media Breaks

As of Monday, August 27, 2018, I officially came off Instagram–this meant I shut down my personal, business and every other client pages I managed on Instagram.

I did not have a great epiphany, but it has been heavy on my mind for the last couple of months as I’ve been spending a lot of unnecessary time on the app. As a child of the 90’s, we didn’t have all these new age apps and we survived and thrived pretty well.

Have you ever been in a really great mood, go on Instagram then immediately your mood changes? That’s one of the effects Instagram has on people — it makes you feel inadequate for no good reason. If you are thinking of taking a break from Instagram or any Social Media, here are a few reasons you should.

You will be more Focused on Your Journey

Ladies and gents! The minute you get off Social Media is the minute you get to truly focus on the things that are important in life! I find myself having so much time and not worried about playing “catch-up” with the rest of the world that I’ve been producing stellar content.

medianet_width = “728”;
medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();
It’s so easy to get caught up in other peoples seemingly “insta success“, that you think things are supposed to happen for you overnight WITHOUT putting in the work. Once you are no longer tapped into Instagram, you will be left with no other choice but to focus on your own journey #tunnelvision

Your Stress Level will Decrease

Believe it or not, recent studies have linked many stress related issues to Instagram in the lives of many young people. We are all human and it is somewhat natural to see people living a certain way and wanting to live just like them.

Some people will even go to the extreme to acquire these things that it leaves them in destitute and stressful situations. Imagine taking out a loan to purchase a Benz just to match up with your peers knowing well that you can’t afford it. Get off Social Media and your stress will decrease.

You will communicate with people MORE

Taking Instagram away will leave you with no other choice but to communicate with people the good old fashion way of calling or face to face interactions. I did this method of communication this week and at first, when I told people to call, it took me a while to figure out the voices and whos who. Once I did, it was magic.

It was so great to hear from people and hear all the inflections and tones in their voices to see how they are doing.

You will be MORE Productive

How many times did you set out to do something but got sucked into the Instagram Abyss? Me! and me again! Since I came off Instagram, I’m back to scheduling things and actually following through with them! This has been such an accomplished and refreshing feeling as I feel like I would be on Instagram for 24 hours of the day (even) in my sleep!

We here at The Haute Lifestyle loves Social Media and the way it has the ability to connect with people from all over the world and makes the world smaller. The thing we don’t like is the negative effects it can have on people.

Hello There ??

 —————————————————————————————————
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.

For as little as $1, you can support The Haute Lifestyle
