A Week In Work Outfits: Business Casual Outfit Ideas

The thought of “What am I wearing today” is something that crosses our minds more often than we think! Anyone who works in an office or even at home sometimes struggle with trying to put outfits together that fit your office culture and vibe.

As part of my latest Social Media Experiment, I’ve also been putting outfits together from a few of my favorite local stores here in Jamaica and I must say it has been fun! I’m not into trends and have been carefully building and curating a capsule wardrobe with mainly neutral colors and a few fun prints so it was a breeze for me to “pull pieces” and “shop my closet”.

If you struggle with putting outfits together for your job, you’ve come to the right place as I will be your guide. This blog post is even better if you work in an environment that is more relaxed and is looking for some Business Casual Outfit Ideas. Here is A Week In Work Outfits: Business Casual Outfit Ideas.

Monday

Business Casual

Mondays can be hard! Who likes getting up early after having an amazing weekend anyway! I like to start my week with a semi-professional look! Here I paired a navy blue belted high-waist pants with a white top with flouncy sleeves. To complete the look, I added in Chanel inspired black cap-toe kitten heels + a black white and gold necklace. This looks says I’m professional but I still like to have fun with Fashion.

Tuesday

Business Casual

On this day, I like to take this down a notch but still maintain the Business Casual Work Vibe. One of the things I’ve been doing is mixing patterns and prints. The key here is to keep things in a similar or complimenting color scheme. In the outfit above, I mixed a black and white polka dot top with light grey gingham pants (with a red stripe) and black and silver shoes.  It has just enough going on but not too much to make it a distracting outfit as the polka dots are small and they help to pull out the white stripes in the pants.

Yes! you can wear jeans to work in the middle of the week! My biggest tip here is to opt for a pair of jeans that have a single color and are without rips and tears. I opted for a pair of black jeans with a light wash and a sleeveless ruffle top with black open toe heels. The light wash in the Jeans pulled out the white in the shirt which elevated the look a bit. Tip: tuck your shirt in the jeans so it looks more put together and If you’re petite like me, it helps to elongate your limbs and creates a nice shape.

Thursday

Thursday is the day of the week when my energy is down! For this, I do one of two things: choose an outfit that is more relaxed, yet work-appropriate or I opt for an outfit that is bright and breezy to uplift my mood. The outfit selected was a bit of both! Interestingly enough, though it looks like a suit, they were purchased from 2 different stores years apart!

This is a pair of black leggings with a white piping down the center and a black button-down shirt with white piping down the arms and across the back! This is actually one of my favorite tops as It’s wrinkle-free (iron-free) and I can wear as is and it’s straight all the time.

I had no outfit for Friday as I was on a Production set all day and only took a selfie in the branded company shirt.

Let me know your favorite look and how you style your outfits on a weekly basis
