Clues We missed in “Behind Her Eyes”

We are back for a follow-up on “Behind her Eyes” since by now more than half the world has watched.

If you have not already seen the series on Netflix, we apologize once more as this article has spoilers. Click out now if you have not yet watched.

The show begins innocuously enough with Louise (Simona Brown) a single mom (or mum, for the Brits) living her quiet life—save for her night terrors—with her son. She runs into David (Tom Bateman) at a bar, strikes up a flirtation, and later discovers he’s the new psychiatrist where she works as a receptionist. Louise’s life further gets turned upside when David’s wife Adele (Eve Hewson) enters the picture. The plot continues to circle around the three main characters, teasing something insidious underneath.

That insidiousness comes at the hands of Adele’s friend Rob (Robert Aramayo), who, it turns out, has been grifting his way through life via some Freaky Friday-inspired body-switching antics.

Clues We missed in “Behind Her Eyes”

Behind her Eyes

The Show Cover Artwork: If you look closely at the Show’s artwork cover, you will see the 3 main characters with an almost alien-like neon green streak around Louise’s eye. If you follow that streak all the way down, you will see Rob in his all-white tracksuit not as prominent as the main characters.  This shows he’s the link to all these characters and is cast in a sinister, creepy shadowy figure.

The Addiction: Adele was not an addict, Rob was! Adele was sent to the Rehab center to cope with grief, but she was not actually crazy or suffered from any addiction. In the show, we see where Adele-Rob uses drugs (a lot) to cope on a regular basis and there was a scene where David asked “If she was using again”. This should have been a giveaway. We even see Adele-Rob going to sketchy neighborhoods for drugs then getting beat up, but somehow always ends up with drugs. What would a well-off lady be doing in that type of neighborhood?

Behind her Eyes

The Journal: We often see Rob writing in his red journal during flashbacks and when Adele-Rob gave Louise the Journal, it was rather suspicious. How did she get the journal in the first place and was so deeply connected to it? I get they were really close, but why would you hold on to the journal of your supposedly dead friend (you killed)  after all those years, then give it to a stranger?

Cooking Meals: Remember the first time when Rob met David? The first thing he did was cook a fantastic meal (in an Apron ) to win him over. The real Adele is super-rich and would have had people to cook for her so there is no way she would know how to cook as well as Adele- Rob did. Sis had amazing knife skills and was always seen cooking up a feast in the kitchen for her husband in an Apron.

Behind her Eyes

Adele Could NOT Have Kids: Usually, when a couple is not able to have kids in a show or movie, the reason is often revealed. Here, it was not; Adele-Rob expressed that they wanted kids but it just didn’t happen. Of course, she couldn’t have kids, she’s a man baby!
