Fashion’s Biggest Night “out”, better known as the Met Gala was last evening held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art after a two year hiatus due to the Pandemic.
The event was hosted by Media Personality + Actress Keke Palmer and llana Glazer, known for her Broad City Series on Comedy Central. This was an interesting pair as I didn’t think they complimented each other at all and I was a bit worried KeKe would be a bit “much” for the event as she is really “hyper”. llana is not much of a “Fashion Girl” so I was not surprised when she had no idea of the names of the people she was interviewing.
Our Quick Review
There was one point where she asked “what’s your name again”? this was a face palm moment as her microphone was still on and we could hear her asking the ridiculous question. I don’t know if she was prepped beforehand or was thrown in last minute because “representation matters”, but she was not the right fit! It was definitely a cringe-worthy moment.
As for the Celebs, it’s safe to say people forgot how to dress and only a few went the extra mile to at least try to interpret the theme. Most celebs showed up with an Old Hollywood Glam look with the soft, loose, sleek curls, simple make up with a bold lip or eye, diamonds and a figure hugging dress. I liked that there were more black celeb guests this year, however, they just weren’t giving what it’s supposed it give! The Met Gala in my opinion represents a sort of fantasy or something completely unattainable and even un-wearable, but the looks this year were not giving that. I’m trying to figure out if people didn’t have enough time to really put looks together with their stylists so they just stepped out just to “get photographed” on the Red Carpet. I was also looking for celebs like: Blake Lively, Zendaya and Billy Porter who always command and own Red Carpet looks, but they were nowhere to be found.

On the plus side, we were anticipating the return of Rihanna, who came last minute and we were not disappointed!
She made her epic return to the Met Gal red carpet on Monday night, wearing an all-black Balenciaga outfit that included a voluminous ruffled coat and matching hat.
The “Diamonds” singer, 33, was joined by beau A$AP Rocky, 32, who turned heads in a colorful quilted look by ERL, marking the couple’s red carpet debut.
The rapper slipped out of his colourful overcoat, revealing a black suit and white ruffled shirt that matched his lady love as the couple held hands and sweetly nuzzled together on the Met steps.
