Trends we’re leaving in 2019 | #Blogmas Day 2

Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr

As it is said “All good things must come to an end” .. 2020 is just weeks away and with that being said, there are a few things that should be left in 2019. This year, we saw some of the best Trends in Fashion, Beauty, Social Media and just life in general and on the other side of that, we saw some things that were a bit … suspect!

Today, we’ll be discussing some of the trends we believe should be left .. buried and forgotten in 2019!

Oversharing on Social Media

medianet_width = “728”;
medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();

As I like to say “to each his/her own” but I believe that there are some things that should be left unsaid and should be reserved for your private life. 2019 saw the rise (and fall of the Influencer) i.e James Charles and many others. For 2020, we are leaving behind the constant need to share everything all the way back in 2019.

Biker Shorts

medianet_width = “728”;
medianet_height = “90”;
medianet_crid = “185308422”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU3G4D0M’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();

The 80’s were alive and well and came back with a vengeance in 2019 and with it came those atrocious Biker shorts. As a past student of an All-Girls High School “back in my day,” these “Biker Shorts” were known as tights that we wore under our uniforms so the thought that they have been fashioned into outerwear is mortifying! These should in no way make their way into 2020 .. let’s CANCEL Biker shorts.

Excessive Cheekbone Highlighters

Thank you YouTube Beauty Gurus! 2019 saw everybody with their highlighters popping from miles away but when you look on these up close they look kinda crazy. In 2020, let’s aim for a “less is more” look and something more subtle and less visible from a galaxy far away.

Checkered Prints

Omg! I don’t know who held a meeting and told people they need to wear a full checkerboard on their jackets, hats, socks, bags, and even shoes! I love a good crazy print moment but that’s all it should be .. just a “moment” in time. Let’s leave checkered prints in 2019!

Spider Lashes

Ladies and gents, lashes should look like a fuller, more natural version of your own lashes or a dramatic glammed up version. At no time should they look costumey or like you have giant spiders on your eyes! Again “to each his/her own” but with the rise of Lash technicians and the introduction of lash extensions, you have no excuse to have natural “safe” looking lashes.

Designer Logo Overkill

Have you ever seen those people with those extremely large designer logos from head to toe? If not it might be you and we’re talking to you. There is such a thing called mixing and matching where you literally mix your pieces with other brands and even other colors. When you go overkill on the Designer logos, it cheapens the look and makes you look tacky.

Hairclips

This trend hit us here in Jamaica a little after Spring thanks to the influence of Reality Tv ad of course Instagram. They looked extremely stylish and was an ode to the 90s with a modern twist. Soon after, things took a turn for the worst when people began wearing several of these clips all at once which make it look hella tacky! I actually love these and still have a few but I literally only wear one and certainly not with every outfit. This shall remain in 2019.
These are a few of the Trends high on my list that should remain in 2019. What are a few trends you definitely hate and will be leaving in 2019?

We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.
